The primary focus of my practice is the landscapes of BC, and in recent years, I have been specifically painting the landscapes of the Southern Gulf Islands. This particular project started with a small 24″ x 20″ painting completed in November 2020, which I then scaled up to a 36″ x 30″ painting. My focus with this larger piece was to let go of what a “traditional” landscape painting looks like and to just have fun with it, not be too precious with brush marks or too fussy with colours.

Liam Kernan

Liam Kernan is a Vancouver based artist working in both oil and acrylic paint. His primary focus is in recreating the scenery of British Columbia, specifically the Southern Gulf Islands, on canvas. He has started to work more abstract whilst exploring other subject matter such as personal identity.
