I Promise This Time Around No One’s Gonna Love You More Than I Do, looks into the artist’s self-exploration of their inner child. Questioning how systems of oppression, whether it be internalized, institutional, or cultural, can affect one’s own identity and how they see themselves and their environment.
The forms of symbolism and the placement of subjects are inspired by 15th- century Renaissance paintings that relied on iconography. I Promise This Time Around No One’s Gonna Love You More Than I Do, uses specific imagery and colour scheme to convey the emotion of self-acceptance and coming into terms with how you were raised contributes to the person you are today.
